Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL, The Gambia) – Police in the Brikama District are investigating two separate suspicious deaths reported over the weekend.

In the first case, officers at the Suba Ward Police Post are probing the suspected murder of Amadou Ceesay, a 39-year-old Senegalese national. According to police, Ceesay was brought to Brikama District Hospital at around 5:30 am on Sunday, June 8, 2025, with visible injuries. Hospital staff alerted police upon the body’s arrival.

Preliminary findings indicate that the deceased was found dead in his room and had sustained assault-related injuries days before his death. Crime scene investigators from Brikama have since processed the scene. Police have arrested two suspects, who are in custody assisting with the investigation, while efforts are underway to locate another suspect.

Meanwhile, in a separate case, police have provided an update on the ongoing investigation into the death of Fabakary Camara, a 33-year-old man found dead outside a residential compound in Brufut on Saturday, June 7.

Investigators revealed that the compound, surrounded by a two-meter-high fence topped with barbed wire, is typically locked from the outside. It is believed that Camara may have forgotten his keys inside the compound and attempted to scale the fence to re-enter.

Personal belongings, including bread and a flashlight, were found with the deceased. A preliminary medical report from Ndemban Referral Hospital cites a head injury as a possible cause of death, although a postmortem examination is pending to confirm the exact cause.

The Gambia Police Force urges members of the public with relevant information to come forward as investigations into both cases continue.
