A police inquiry into an alleged fighting incident involving kids at Deeper Life School in Kotu has been prompted by a disturbing video that has gone viral on social media. In the footage, many student groups are shown physically assaulting one another. One of the victims is shown critically injured, lying on the ground, and pleading for assistance. The iron bars, hammers, cutlasses, sticks, and stones that the students were carrying were visible.
Five offenders were apprehended when the Police Anti Crime Unit-Kotu promptly dispatched officers. A video that implicated kids from Glory Baptist School and WASS as possible suspects also surfaced.
One of the Deeper Life students was reportedly hurt during the altercation and sent to the hospital. It has been stated that Glory Baptist and West Africa Senior Secondary (WASS) pupils were the ones who started the conflict.
Two young males identified as part of the “Rude Gang” are seen in one of the footages threatening to carry out another attack at Deeper Life School on Monday.
The violent incident was confirmed by a statement released by the police last evening.
“The Kotu Anti-Crime Unit received a distressing report on March 27, 2024, regarding a violent attack on Deeper Life School students, resulting in severe injuries to one student who required hospitalization. In a swift response, ACU-Kotu deployed officers, leading to the arrest of five suspects. Additionally, a video surfaced implicating students from WASS and Glory Baptist School as potential suspects.
While investigations are ongoing, the public, especially parents and school administrators, are urged to maintain peace and report any incidents that may jeopardize public safety.”
