Police Launch Full Investigation Into Pregnant Woman’s Death Following Alleged Assault

Gambiaj.com – (Bansang, The Gambia) – Authorities in Bansang have opened an urgent investigation into the death of a pregnant woman, who reportedly died after being assaulted by her husband.

The victim, identified as Maimuna Jallow, was allegedly attacked at her home and later rushed to Bansang Hospital, where medical staff pronounced her dead despite efforts to save her and her unborn child.

According to preliminary reports, the assault occurred under circumstances that are yet to be fully established. The Bansang Police Division, upon receiving information about the incident, immediately moved to halt burial arrangements to ensure that a thorough and unhindered investigation could take place.

The police have intervened to stop the burial to allow for a proper investigation into the allegations,” a spokesperson from the Bansang Police Division confirmed. “We are treating this matter with the utmost seriousness it deserves.”

While the alleged perpetrator’s identity has not been officially released pending further inquiries, sources close to the case indicate that authorities have identified a suspect and are gathering crucial evidence.

This tragic incident has sparked outrage across the Bansang community, with residents demanding justice for the late Maimuna Jallow and expressing concern over the rising cases of domestic violence in the region.
