Police Launch Murder Probe After Death of Serrekunda Resident

Gambiaj.com – (Serrekunda, The Gambia) – Police have opened a murder investigation following the death of Ivan Jallow, a resident of Serrekunda, in an incident that occurred on Thursday, April 24.

The primary suspect, identified as 25-year-old Ebrima Sambou, a national of Guinea-Bissau, is currently the focus of the investigation. Details surrounding the circumstances of the incident remain limited at this time.

According to authorities, Jallow was rushed to the Kanifing General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His body is now being prepared for transfer to the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital (EFSTH) mortuary in Banjul.

In a brief statement, the Gambia Police Force urged the public to remain calm and allow investigators to carry out their work. “We ask for cooperation from the public and assure that further updates will be provided as investigations progress,” the statement read.

The motive behind the alleged killing remains unclear, and it is not yet confirmed whether the suspect is in police custody.
