Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL) – Counsel Lamin J Darboe has wrapped up a comprehensive cross-examination of PW6 Detective Ebou Sowe in the ongoing alleged murder trial of Ousainou Bojang and his sister Amie Bojang. The session was marked by meticulous scrutiny of Detective Sowe’s activities and whereabouts on key dates related to the case.
During the cross-examination, Counsel Darboe questioned Detective Sowe about his location on the 12th of September, highlighting discrepancies between his personal call log and his official activities. Detective Sowe clarified that while his personal call log did not indicate his presence at the crime scene, his official Africel call log placed him at the Banjulding headquarters at the anti-crime unit.
The defense also questioned Detective Sowe’s involvement in the investigation, pointing out alleged lapses such as the preservation of the crime scene and the handling of evidence. Detective Sowe maintained that he followed all required procedures and played an active role in the investigation, including receiving exhibits from witnesses.
Additionally, Counsel A. Sillah, representing the second accused, challenged Detective Sowe’s knowledge of the case, questioning his familiarity with details such as the number of officers on the investigation panel and the size of the cartridges handed over as evidence. Detective Sowe defended his actions, stating that he was not directly involved in certain aspects of the investigation that fell outside his expertise.
The proceedings were marked by objections from the Director of Public Prosecution and interventions from the presiding Judge Justice Jaiteh, who ensured that the questioning remained within legal bounds.
The case has been adjourned to the next session for re-examination by the Director of Public Prosecution A.M Yusuf. The defense’s thorough cross-examination has added depth to the trial, highlighting the complexities involved in the investigation and prosecution of the alleged murder.
