Gambiaj.com – (DAKAR, Senegal) – In a dramatic incident on Wednesday morning, a man in military uniform attempted to set himself on fire in front of the Palace of the Republic of Senegal in Dakar. The incident occurred around 9 a.m., drawing immediate attention from the police officers on duty.
The man, identified only by the name Cheikh B., is 48 years old and a former soldier with disability. He was seen dousing himself with a flammable liquid, but the vigilant traffic company police officers quickly intervened to prevent a potential tragedy. Their swift action ensured that the man could be stopped before any harm was done.
According to local media reports, Cheikh B. was found to possess a driving license and a membership card from the Senegalese National Office for Veterans and War Victims. After the police officers filed a report at the Plateau police station, Cheikh B. was handed over to the military barracks situated opposite the palace. He will undergo further processing and investigation by the provost brigade.
