Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL) – President Adama Barrow of The Gambia, also serving as the Chairman of the 15th Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Islamic Summit, delivered closing remarks on 5th May 2024, emphasizing the importance of peace, justice, and continuous dialogue within the Islamic community and beyond.
The summit, held in Banjul, The Gambia, marked a new beginning for The Gambia’s engagement with OIC Member States and stakeholders, aiming to promote peace and justice. President Barrow stressed the collective responsibility of the Organization to find lasting solutions to the challenges faced by people in distress, whether from conflict, war, or other challenges.
President Barrow highlighted the interconnections of nations, stating that no country can truly be at peace if its neighbors or other OIC Member States are not. He called for embracing tolerance as a fundamental value and a means to achieve sustainable peace, development, and stability.
The summit’s discussions and resolutions are expected to guide the OIC’s future actions in addressing regional and global challenges, particularly those affecting Islamic communities.
