President Barrow Appoints New Governors, Redeploys Existing Officials

Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL, The Gambia) – President Adama Barrow has appointed new governors and redeployed existing ones across several regions of The Gambia. Acting under Section 123 (1) of the Local Government (Amendment) Act, 2006, these changes are effective immediately.

A press release issued by Ebrima G. Sankareh The Gambia government spokesperson & presidential Diaspora Adviser states that Mrs. Fanta Bojang Njie Samateh Manneh, previously the Deputy Permanent Secretary (DPS) at the Ministry of Fisheries and Water Resources, now Governor of West Coast Region (WCR). Ms. Fatou Jammeh Touray, former DPS at the Ministry of Agriculture, now Governor of North Bank Region (NBR). Ms. Ramou Sarr, former DPS at the Ministry of Transport, Works & Infrastructure, now Governor of Lower River Region (LRR). Mr. Musa Mbye, former DPS at the Ministry of Youths & Sports, now Governor of Central River Region (CRR). Mr. Abdoulie Kah, former DPS at the Ministry of Defence, now Governor of Upper River Region (URR).

In addition to these appointments, the following governors have been redeployed Mr. Lamin Saidykhan, former Governor of NBR, now DPS at the Ministry of Agriculture. Mr. Samba Bah, former Governor of URR, is now DPS at the Ministry of Fisheries. Mr. Ousman J. Bojang, former Governor of WCR, is now DPS at the Ministry of Works. Mr. Seedy Lamin Bah, former Governor of LRR, is now DPS at the Ministry of Youths & Sports. And Mr. Ousman Bah, former Governor of CRR, is now DPS at the Ministry of Defence.

Furthermore, all current Deputy Governors have been redeployed to the Ministry of Lands, Regional Government & Religious Affairs.

The government spokesperson and Presidential Diaspora Adviser, Ebrima G. Sankareh, announced that these strategic appointments and redeployments aim to bolster the effectiveness of local governance and ensure a seamless transition in leadership roles. According to him, the President’s decision reflects a commitment to enhancing administrative efficiency and regional development across The Gambia.
