Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL) – The President of the Republic and Commander-in-Chief of the Gambia Armed Forces, Adama Barrow, oversaw a ceremony on Tuesday at the State House Cabinet Conference room in Banjul, where 10 Senior Officers were promoted to the rank of Colonel.
The newly promoted officers, who were elevated from the rank of Lieutenant Colonel to substantive Colonel, were decorated in a colorful ceremony attended by high-ranking officials, including the Vice President, Muhammed BS Jallow, the Minister of Defence, Ambassador Serign Modou Njie, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Defence, Madam Rohey Bittaye Darboe, the National Security Adviser to the President, Abubacarr Sulayman Jeng, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Mr. Momodou Sowe, Service Chiefs, Principal Staff Officers from both Defence and Joint Service Headquarters, and members of the Press.
Among the officers decorated were Lieutenant Colonel Yerro NA Jallow – Director of Operations, Lieutenant Colonel Doctor Musa Kah – Director of GAF Medical Services, Lieutenant Colonel Omar B Bojang – Deputy National Security Adviser to the President, Lieutenant Colonel Seedy Joof – Program Officer, Department of Political Affairs, Peace and Security, ECOWAS Commission, Abuja, Nigeria.
Also promoted were Lieutenant Colonel Musa M Jammeh (in absentia) – Director of Finance and Budget, Lieutenant Colonel Bunja E Darboe (in absentia) – Director of Procurement, Lieutenant Colonel Ousman Bah – Staff Officer Defense Headquarters, Lieutenant Colonel Abdoulie Bah – Commanding Officer, 1 Infantry Battalion, Yundum Barracks, Lieutenant Colonel Lamin k Sanyang – Military Adviser to the Chief of Defence Staff/ Director of Press and Public Relations GAF, and Lieutenant Colonel Abdoulie Mboob – Commanding Officer, State Guard Battalion.
President Barrow, acting within the Powers vested in him by the Constitution and in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of Service (TACOS) in the Gambia Armed Forces, conferred the new ranks to the officers in recognition of their dedication and service to the nation.
The ceremony highlighted the commitment of the Gambian government to the development and recognition of its armed forces, ensuring a capable and motivated leadership within the military ranks.
