Gambiaj.com – (Dakar, Senegal) – The President of The Gambia, Adama Barrow, has arrived in Dakar to join Senegal’s 65th Independence Anniversary celebrations. Accompanied by a high-powered delegation, President Barrow is among several sub-regional leaders attending the historic event.
Upon his arrival at the Leopold Sedar Senghor Military Airport, President Barrow was warmly received by his Senegalese counterpart, President Basirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye.
Also present to welcome him were The Gambia’s High Commissioner to Senegal, H.E. Hadrameh Sidibeh, alongside Senegalese Service Chiefs and diplomatic staff from The Gambia’s High Commission, including the Deputy Head of Mission, Counsellor, and Military Attaché.
Following the reception, President Barrow proceeded to the King Fahd Hotel, where he will be staying during his visit. His participation in the celebrations underscores the strong historical and diplomatic ties between The Gambia and Senegal.
The theme for this year’s celebrations, “Towards the Technological and Industrial Sovereignty of the Defense and Security Forces,” highlights the administration’s focus on modernization and self-reliance.
This year’s guest of honor is President Umaro Sisoko Embalo, who has also been invited by his Senegalese counterpart.
President Diomaye has chartered his presidential jet in Bissau for the purpose of allowing his friend and head of state to rally in Dakar.
