President Adama Barrow has emphasized to officials and delegates from the OIC Jeddah-Based General Secretariat in Saudi Arabia that organizing a successful summit is his government’s top priority. The President of the Republic of The Gambia held an audience on Tuesday with these officials as part of their assessment tour prior to the upcoming Banjul OIC summit.
Top officials are on a technical assessment mission headed by OIC Assistant Secretary General Ambassador Yousef Al Dobeay in anticipation of the 15th OIC Summit, which will take place in The Gambia.
President Barrow highlighted that extensive preparations have already been made and underlined that organizing a successful summit is his government’s top priority. He reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to hosting the summit and emphasized the significance of government-planned infrastructure projects like the enlargement of the Bertil Harding Highway, which is already benefiting the Gambian people.
The President assured the OIC officials in Jeddah that his administration will make every effort to guarantee the successful hosting of the 15th OIC Summit in Banjul.
Ambassador Al-Dobeay expressed his happiness with The Gambia’s advancements in infrastructure when speaking with the media. He reiterated, “We can now inform all OIC member states that The Gambia is prepared to host the 15th Summit in Banjul on the 4th and 5th of May 2024.”
Ambassador Al-Dobeay also applauded the country’s achievements and acknowledged the enormous efforts required to complete the infrastructure projects.
An earlier courtesy call was made to His Excellency Momodou Tangara, Minister of Foreign Affairs, by a team of government diplomats led by H.E. Gibril Omar Sallah, Permanent Representative of The Gambia to the OIC and Ambassador of the Republic of The Gambia to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
During a bilateral meeting with the Gambia OIC Secretariat, important technical elements concerning the administrative and protocol aspects of the summit were discussed by the team.
