Diomaye Tabaski

Gambiaj.com – (DAKAR, Senegal) – On Monday, Senegal’s President Bassirou Diomaye Faye performed the Eid-Al-Kabir prayer at the Grande Mosquée de Dakar. Following the Khoutba delivered by Imam Moussa Samb, President Faye addressed the Muslim community and the nation, emphasizing the importance of unity, solidarity, and peace among all Senegalese citizens, regardless of their religious beliefs.

In a gesture of humility, the President praised God and asked for pardon from the entire Islamic community in the country and around the world, while extending forgiveness to those who had offended him, intentionally or unintentionally. This approach echoes the words of the Prophet Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him): “He who does not forgive others, Allah will not forgive him either.”

In his heartfelt message, President Faye urged everyone to work together to overcome the challenges facing the country and strive for progress and development. He wished everyone a joyous and blessed Eid-Al-Kabir celebration.

Standing alongside the Grand Serigne of Dakar and the mayor of Dakar Plateau, President Faye congratulated the Islamic Ummah on the spirit of active solidarity that marked the festival of sacrifice. He highlighted the importance of adhering to the law and regulations, emphasizing that forgiveness and submission to divine recommendations are at the heart of the celebration.

He praised the climate of peace, serenity, and harmony prevailing in the country and reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to transformative reforms.

“We are fully committed to transforming the country. We have judged that justice is the first pillar to be reviewed in this country as part of the reforms that we have undertaken, but we are going to extend our objective to globally recover the country which has been deeply affected,” stated President Faye.

In a country experiencing significant economic growth with the recent exploitation of oil and gas, the President expressed his gratitude to his predecessors who worked towards these achievements. He committed to ensuring “the good administration of these resources, oil and gas, for the benefit of the Senegalese people.”

But beyond natural wealth, it was human and environmental wealth that was emphasized. The Head of State invited the Senegalese people to perpetuate the momentum of collective action, particularly through “set setal,” a monthly day of cleaning public spaces. “We invite the Senegalese, wherever they are, to think about cleaning well so that Senegal, both in cities and the countryside, maintains the cleanliness that we achieved some time ago,” he declared.

The President’s message resonated with many, reinforcing the need for collective effort and unity to ensure Senegal’s progress and stability. As the nation celebrated Eid-Al-Kabir, his call for solidarity and peace was a timely reminder of the shared values that bind the Senegalese people together.
