Gambiaj.com – (DAKAR) – After the arrest of activist Bah Diakhate, it is now the turn of Imam Cheikh Tidiane Ndao to face the scrutiny of the Criminal Investigation Division (Dic). The well-known preacher was detained by officers, under the command of Chief Police Commissioner Adramé Sarr, at his residence in Castors at approximately 6:15 a.m.
Imam Ndao is currently held in custody at the Dic headquarters, where he is undergoing questioning. He stands accused of making derogatory comments regarding Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko’s sexuality.
The arrest of Imam Ndao follows a self-referral initiated by the public prosecutor. He is scheduled to appear before the public prosecutor on Wednesday.
The charges against the preacher include the dissemination of false information, as per Article 255 of the Penal Code, and insulting a person exercising the duties of the President of the Republic, as outlined in Article 254, paragraph 2 of the Penal Code.
Meanwhile, activist Bah Diakhate, who spent the previous night at the Plateau police station, was transferred to the Dic this morning at around 11 a.m.
