Gambiaj.com – (Banjul, the Gambia)- The CAVB International Referee Candidate Course has officially opened in Banjul, The Gambia, and the course that will run until September 7, 2025, aims to elevate the technical and officiating standards of beach volleyball referees to meet international requirements.
The event is expected to enhance the continent’s competitive edge and visibility in global volleyball, particularly in preparation for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games said Bai Dodou Jallow president of Gambia Volleyball Federation.
The course is part of the African Volleyball Confederation’s (CAVB) strategic objective to expand Africa’s pool of internationally certified beach volleyball referees Jallow opined.
Course Director Elzir Martins reechoed on similar statement.
The Honorable Minister of Youth and Sport Bakary Y Badgie, welcomed all participants to the Gambia and urged them to do their best in the pursuit for an international career. He reiterated on government’s continued support to the development of sport in The Gambia.
The CAVB has been actively promoting refereeing excellence, as evident from their recent appointment of African referees to officiate in various FIVB competitions. The organization continues to prioritize the development of volleyball on the continent.
