According to The Fatu Network News Media citing the UDP’s diaspora secretary, Mboge Saidykhan, Momodou Sabally, the campaign manager of the opposition United Democratic Party (UDP), has joined President Adama Barrow’s ruling National People’s Party (NPP).
The Gambia Journal could not independently verify the news. However, Sabally, who served as Secretary General and head of the Civil Service under former President Yahya Jammeh’s regime, joined the UDP in 2019 after the 2016 coalition won the presidential election.
Sources close to the Presidency have confirmed that Sabally and President Barrow have already met and resolved their political differences.
However, UDP spokesperson Almamy Fanding Taal has said he has no information on Sabally’s alleged move to the NPP.
