Sabally Submits his Official Resignation to UDP Executive

Momodou Sabally

Momodou Sabally has submitted his official resignation to the United Democratic Party. In his resignation letter, Sabally invoked “the best interest” of UDP and himself as the primary reason for his departure.

“I write to formally inform you of my decision to resign as national Campaign Manager of United Democratic Party. It is a difficult decision to take but it is my opinion that this is in the best interest of both the party and myself in view of current circumstances.

Accordingly, I have also decided to cease to be a member of the UDP. I wish to take this opportunity to express my profound thanks and appreciation to the leadership and members of this great party for all the love and support that they have shown me during the period I spent as a member of this great party.”

A onetime secretary general of the Yahya Jammeh’s APRC, Momodou Sabally joined the United Democratic Party in November 2023. He told a cheering crowd that he believed in the vision and principles of Alhaji Ousainu Darboe, the leader of UDP.

Sabally however said his respect for President Barrow remains but made it clear that he wanted a leadership based on vision, patriotism and fair play, and “that is the leadership of Alhaji Ousainu Darboe”.

A lot of waters have since passed under the bridge.
