Gambiaj.com – (MADISON, Wisconsin) – Four years ago, Samba Baldeh made history by becoming the first African-born member elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly in 2020. Since then, he has served with distinction, becoming a steadfast advocate for a better Wisconsin for all its residents.

Baldeh (Democratic Party) is now running for election to the Wisconsin State Senate to represent District 16. He is on the ballot in the Democratic primary on August 13, 2024

Born and raised in The Gambia, Samba Baldeh is an information technology professional and Democratic politician who has been representing the 48th Assembly district since 2021. Before his tenure in the Assembly, he served six years on the Madison Common Council, holding the position of president from 2018 to 2019.

In the Wisconsin State Assembly, Samba Baldeh serves on several key committees in 2024, including the Review of Administrative Rules Committee, Local Government Committee, Rules Committee, State Affairs Committee, Ways and Means Committee, and the Information Policy and Technology Committee.

Prominent Gambians in the US, such as Cherno Njie and Michael Harris, are now backing Samba as he aims to make history once more by running for the Wisconsin Senate. His campaign for the 16th Senate District emphasizes his lifelong dedication to listening, building bridges, and prioritizing his community’s needs.

From his early days in The Gambia to his extensive career in the private sector and his dedicated public service, Samba has consistently challenged the status quo. He prides himself on being a servant leader and promises to continue this role in the Wisconsin Senate, focusing on making constituents’ priorities his own.
