Gambiaj.com – (DAKAR, Senegal) – The Sangomar oil site in Senegal achieved a remarkable milestone in December 2024, marking a significant leap for the country’s burgeoning oil industry. With the commissioning of all its producing wells, the site recorded an impressive monthly output of 2.96 million barrels of crude oil, setting the stage for Senegal to strengthen its position in the global oil market.
According to the Senegalese Ministry of Energy, Oil, and Mines, the commissioning of the wells allowed seamless integration into the production lines. This strategic move is part of an optimized schedule targeting daily production of 100,000 barrels of crude oil.
The ministry further disclosed on its Facebook page that in December alone, three cargoes totaling 2.94 million barrels were successfully shipped and marketed internationally, underscoring Senegal’s growing footprint in the global energy sector.
The Sangomar site’s performance exceeded expectations for the year, with total production reaching 16.9 million barrels, significantly surpassing the initial target of 11.7 million barrels. This achievement reflects not only increased production capacities but also the dedication and expertise of the teams involved in the project.
With this dynamic progress, the Sangomar site is solidifying Senegal’s role as a key player in the global oil industry. The achievement also signals promising opportunities for the country’s energy sector, as it continues to attract international investment and bolster economic growth.
As Senegal celebrates these milestones, the government faces the challenge of ensuring the transparent and equitable management of oil revenues to drive sustainable development across the nation.
