Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL, The Gambia) – In a shocking incident at the Brufut Villa guard post, a 35-year-old security officer, Momodou Jallow, was arrested on August 1, 2024, for allegedly stabbing two police officers during an altercation. Jallow, employed by Marshall Security Company, is now in custody awaiting further legal proceedings.
The incident occurred during a routine check at the guard post when an argument reportedly escalated into violence. Jallow allegedly used a knife to stab the officers, causing significant injuries. The injured officers were swiftly transported to Kanifing General Hospital, where they are currently receiving medical care.
The altercation has raised concerns about the safety of security personnel and the working conditions that might lead to such violent outbursts. The police are investigating the circumstances that led to the incident to prevent future occurrences and ensure the safety of both officers and security personnel.
Jallow remains in police custody as the investigation continues. The authorities have yet to release details about the specific charges he will face. This incident underscores the need for comprehensive conflict resolution training for security staff to manage potential confrontations peacefully.
