Gambiaj.com – (Dakar, Senegal) — The national vote counting commission is set to finalize and announce provisional results from Senegal’s legislative elections held on Sunday, November 17. The commission will convene tomorrow, November 20, at 10 a.m. in Room 4 of the Dakar Courthouse to consolidate data from departmental vote counting commissions.
Their primary task will be to “gather data from the legislative elections and collected by the departmental vote counting commissions, with a view to announcing the results.”
Preliminary trends from the polls indicate a dominant performance by the ruling party Pastef, led by Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko. According to unofficial projections, Pastef has secured victory in 41 out of Senegal’s 46 departments, signaling a sweeping mandate.
Estimates published by Le Témoin suggest that Pastef may obtain 131 seats in the National Assembly. The opposition coalition Takku Wallu, headed by former President Macky Sall, is projected to win 16 seats, placing them in a distant second. Jamm ak Njariñ, led by former Prime Minister Amadou Bâ, is expected to claim seven seats, rounding out the top three political groups.
If the early projections hold, this outcome would solidify Pastef’s dominance in Senegalese politics, bolstering Prime Minister Sonko’s government and agenda. However, the official confirmation of results remains pending the national vote counting commission’s proclamation.
The stakes are high as the nation anticipates the final announcement, which could shape Senegal’s political landscape for years to come.
