In a disputed contest held on Monday at Dakar’s Arène nationale, Modou Lo, a wrestler from the Rock Énergie squad, defeated Boy Niang 2 of Pikine in a matter of minutes, keeping his title as King of Senegal’s arena.
A little while after he blew his whistle, the referee warned the two wrestlers not to be passive, so they decided to take the initiative and start punching each other.
Modou Lo was able to release himself after Boy Niang 2 was unable to seize his leg. When Modou Lo noticed that Boy Niang 2 had become resistant, he devised his strategy to push him on his back and defeat him.
Modou Lo competed in 26 bouts for the Rock Énergie squad over the course of 18 years, winning 22 of them. He once drew a contest with Lac de Guiers 2 in 2011.
The 39-year-old strike wrestling champion (2007–2008) has suffered three defeats in his career, two against Balla Gaye2 (2010–2019) and one against Bombardier in 2015 for the title of King of the Arena.
Modou Lo, who hails from Taïba Ndiaye (Thiès region), defeated Eumeu Sène on July 28, 2019, to clinch his first title of King. His 2012–2013 season was a barren year for him. On November 5, 2023, he prevailed over Ama Baldé, taking just 52 seconds to win. Boy Niang 2 suffered the same fate less than two months later, with Modou Lo still keeping his title as King of the Arena.
