Oumar Samba Ba, the Secretary General of the Senegal’s Presidency, has on Friday announced the composition of President Bassirou Diomaye Faye’s first cabinet. It has enlisted 25 ministers and 5 secretaries of state.
The government is characterized by the presence of senior officers in key positions, such as former Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, General Birame Diop, appointed as Minister of the Armed Forces, and former High Commander of the Gendarmerie and Director of Military Justice, Jean Baptiste Tine, who will assume the role of Minister of the Interior.
Appointed Minister of Economy, Planning, and Cooperation, Mr. Abdourahmane Sarr is the brother of former Macky Sall’s minister Oulimata Sarr.
The latter held the same position in the government of outgoing President Macky Sall.
Justice Ousmane Diagne, who was previously the Attorney General at the Supreme Court, now inherits the position of Keeper of the Seals, Minister of Justice.
In addition to Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, the cabinet includes:
- Madame Yassine Fall: Minister of African Integration and Foreign Affairs
- General Birame Diop: Minister of the Armed Forces
- Mr. Ousmane Diagne: Minister of Justice, Keeper of the Seals
- General Jean-Baptiste Tine: Minister of Interior and Public Security
- Mr. Birame Soulèye Diop: Minister of Energy, Petroleum, and Mines
- Mr. Abdourahmane Sarr: Minister of Economy, Planning, and Cooperation
- Mr. Cheikh Djiba: Minister of Finance and Budget
- Mr. Malick Ndiaye: Minister of Infrastructure and Land and Air Transport
- Mr. Daouda Ngom: Minister of Environment and Ecological Transition
- Mr. Amadou Moustapha Ndiekk Sarré: Minister of Vocational Training, Government Spokesperson
- Mr. Cheikh Tidiane Ndiaye: Minister of Hydraulics and Sanitation
- Mr. Alioune Sall: Minister of Communication, Telecommunications, and Digital
- Mr. Elhaj Abdourahmane Diouf: Minister of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation
- Mr. Serigne Gueye Diop: Minister of Industry and Trade
- Madame Fatou Diouf: Minister of Fisheries, Maritime Infrastructure, and Ports
- Madame Maïmouna Dièye: Minister of Family and Solidarity
- Mr. Yankoba Diémé: Minister of Labor, Employment, and Relations with Institutions
- Mr. Balla Moussa Fofana: Minister of Urban Planning, Territorial Communities, and Territorial Development
- Mr. Moustapha Mamba Guirassy: Minister of National Education
- Mr. Ibrahim Sy: Minister of Health and Social Action
- Mr. Olivier Boukal: Minister of Public Service and Public Service Reform
- Madame Khady Diène Gaye: Minister of Youth, Hope, and Culture
- Mr. Mabouba Diagne: Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty, and Livestock
- Mr. Alioune Dione: Minister of Microfinance and Social and Solidarity Economy
- Mr. Mountaga Diaw: Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts.
Pursuant to Article 2, the following are appointed Secretaries of State:
- Mr. Ahmadou Cherif Diouf: Secretary of State for Senegalese Abroad
- Mr. Ibrahim Thiam: Secretary of State for the Development of Small and Medium Industries
- Mr. Mohamed Tala Ndao: Secretary of State for Urbanism and Housing
- Mr. Alpha Ba: Secretary of State for Cooperative and Peasant Supervision
- Mr. Bakary Sarr: Secretary of State for Culture, Creative Industries, and Historical Heritage. This decree will be published in the Official Journal of the Republic of Senegal.
