Gambiaj.com (DAKAR) – In a letter sent on Friday, Senegal’s Minister of Public Service, Olivier Boucal, notified all employees that “the biometric timekeeping system already in place will be effectively starting on Monday, April 29, 2024.” He described this as a component of the management and observation of public agents’ actual presence.

“This system, coupled with a video surveillance device, makes it possible, on the one hand, to carry out access control to the building and, on the other hand, to monitor the presence, delays, and absences of agents,” the document states.

Furthermore, Mr. Boucal reminds the public servants that, in accordance with the provisions of Decree No. 96-677 of August 7, 1996, amending Decree No. 91-982 of September 17, 1991, setting the schedules in the state’s administrative services, the schedules of The office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, with a one-hour break in between at 1:30 and 2:30 p.m.

Therefore, the minister extends an invitation to all agents “to report themselves, by fingerprint, on the terminal located at the police station at the entrance or in the basement, on arrival and departure.” The officially authorized agents and supervisory staff are unaffected, nevertheless.
