Fans call the coverage of Senegal’s AFCON opener against Gambia a ‘joke’ and a ‘disgrace’ after no commentary was heard for nearly 15 minutes… before the pictures cut out completely amid technical issues. The broadcast streams on a variety of television outlets were cut out on Monday.
Viewers were left frustrated and disappointed as they eagerly waited for the highly anticipated match to resume on screen. Many took to social media to express their anger, questioning the professionalism and reliability of the broadcasting network.
The lack of commentary and sudden blackout only added to the frustration, leaving fans feeling robbed of the full experience of watching their beloved team in action.
Sky Sports News presenter Vicky Gomersall subsequently stated, ‘We have to apologize because the world feed has gone down so nobody can see the pictures.’ BeIN Sports also added that a ‘satellite problem’ had caused the issue.
Meanwhile, Super Sport’s broadcast showed a screen that said, ‘We apologize for the loss of pictures; our engineers are working on it.’
Spectators from around the world voiced difficulties watching the match on different platforms, with commentary not being heard on for nearly 15 minutes into the start of the game, with only noise from the crowd being heard on the broadcast.
It subsequently came back on again, but it wasn’t long afterwards that various streams from broadcasters, including Sky Sports and Super Sport, both went down.
