Senegalese Cybercrime Unit Arrests Suspected Mastermind Behind Sextortion Site ‘Kocc Barma’

Gambiaj.com – Dakar, Senegal – In a major breakthrough in the fight against cybercrime, Senegal’s Division Spéciale de la Cybersécurité (DSC) has arrested El Hadj Babacar Dioum, suspected of being the elusive and notorious figure behind the sextortion websites seneporno.com and babi-porno.com, known under the alias “Kocc Barma.”

According to the Senegalese media reports, Dioum was tracked down after years of investigation that began in 2018 following reports of non-consensual sharing of intimate videos and widespread digital blackmail.

Hundreds of victims—primarily Senegalese women—have been identified, many of whom suffered public humiliation, psychological trauma, and, in some cases, suicidal thoughts.

Dioum was apprehended in a secured apartment complex in Dakar following a coordinated operation by the DSC and the elite police unit BIP.

Authorities seized hundreds of intimate video recordings reportedly used for blackmail. Victims were often recorded without their knowledge, then coerced or threatened online.

Although Dioum confessed to key elements of the allegations during police questioning, he denied being “Kocc Barma.” However, investigators say they have found digital evidence directly linking him to the pornographic platforms central to the case.

The investigation has since expanded. Over the weekend, police executed a search at the residence of Cheikh Tall Dioum, a former business figure and father of the suspect. During the raid, eleven vehicles were immobilized—six of which have been seized and are now held at the cybersecurity unit’s premises.

Authorities suspect that Dioum used his wife’s identity to register companies possibly used to launder money or facilitate the illegal distribution of explicit content.

Two such firms are currently under scrutiny. Dioum’s wife has been questioned by police but has not been placed under arrest.

Meanwhile, Dioum’s police custody has been extended as investigators pursue additional leads. Sources close to the probe revealed that the suspect, during his third interrogation session on Friday, refused to provide the unlock code to his mobile phone, potentially slowing down access to more critical evidence.

The case has stirred public attention in Senegal, where the elusive “Kocc Barma” had gained infamy for years of online harassment and sexual exploitation. The arrest of Dioum could mark a turning point in holding cybercriminals accountable in the country.
