Gambiaj.com – (DAKAR, Senegal) – Senegalese wrestling promoter Luc Nicolai is set to lose some of his properties as part of efforts to recover court-ordered damages following his conviction in a drug-related case.
According to Libération, a local newspaper, former Lamantin Beach Hotel owner Bertrand Touly has initiated legal proceedings to auction Nicolai’s land. The sale, scheduled for February 20 before the criminal judge of the Mbour court, will see the auctioning of Nicolai’s bare land in the “Capparis domains” at a price of 59.875 million CFA francs.
This development comes years after Nicolai’s conviction in 2017 by the Saint-Louis Court of Appeal. The wrestling promoter was sentenced to five years in prison, with one year suspended, for introducing drugs into the offices of Bertrand Touly. His actions were reportedly carried out with the assistance of two former hotel employees and a customs officer. In addition to the prison term, Nicolai was ordered to pay 300 million CFA francs in damages to Touly.
Touly remains determined to recover the amount owed to him and has pursued legal avenues to claim his compensation. The auctioning of Nicolai’s assets marks a significant step in enforcing the court’s ruling.
The case highlights the long-lasting consequences of high-profile legal battles in Senegal, particularly involving prominent figures in the country’s wrestling and hospitality industries.
