CMA CGM shipping company has announced the implementation of Peak Season Surcharges (PSS) for shipments to the Gambia, with varying effective dates based on the origin and destination of the cargo.
For all origins except Far East, Turkey, and Egypt, the PSS will take effect on 15 April. For shipments from the US and Latin America to the Gambia, the PSS will be implemented on 10 May.
The details of the PSS are as follows:
– Origin range: All origins except Far East, Turkey & Egypt
– Destination range: Gambia
– Cargo: Dry
– Amount: US$300 / €280 / GB£ 240 per unit
– Payable with freight
– Origin range: Turkey
– Destination range: Gambia
– Cargo: Dry
– Amount: US$500 per unit
– Payable with freight
– Origin range: Egypt
– Destination range: Gambia
– Cargo: Dry
– Amount: US$400 per unit
– Payable with freight
These surcharges are applicable per unit and are to be paid along with the freight charges.
Although this announcement by CMA CGM reflects the company’s efforts to adjust its pricing policies in response to market conditions and ensure the continued provision of quality shipping services to Gambia, it is not good news for the end consumers who will likely experience another spike in prices of commodities.
