Gambiaj.com – (Bissau, Guinea-Bissau) – Domingos Simões Pereira, the coordinator of the Inclusive Alliance Platform—Terra Ranka and president of the National People’s Assembly, has issued a clarion call for the military to withdraw from the country’s political affairs and for power to be restored to the people. Declaring it a “national imperative,” Simões Pereira emphasized the urgent need to uphold constitutional order and restore democratic governance.

In a message published on the official page of the African Party for the Independence of Guinea and Cape Verde (PAIGC), Simões Pereira urged citizens to “remain firm, conscious, and organized” in the face of ongoing political instability.

We exhort you to remain firm, conscious, and organized. Removing the military from the political game and returning power to the people is a national imperative,” the message read.

Reaffirming the alliance’s commitment to democratic values, Simões Pereira pledged to bring back “dignity to work, stability to institutions, and hope to the people.” He said the unified opposition is determined to restore the rule of law and ensure the people’s voices are heard.

Addressing workers across Guinea-Bissau, Simões Pereira acknowledged the hardships they face, including delayed salaries, rising unemployment, inadequate working conditions, and a climate of insecurity that he said hinders national development.

He stressed that the struggle for freedom and justice cannot succeed without the mobilization and determination of workers: “But we also know that without your courage, your persistence, and your faith, this country would not stand up.”

The PAIGC leader also issued a strong appeal to the international community, including ECOWAS (Cedeao), the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP), and the African Union, urging them to accompany the aspirations of the Guinean people with seriousness and responsibility.

Simões Pereira called on these regional and international bodies to support efforts to restore constitutional order and ensure that free and fair elections take place.
