President Macky Sall of Senegal received President-elect Bassirou Diomaye Faye in audience on Thursday, following his victory in the presidential election held on March 24. The meeting, announced by the Senegalese presidency, focused on key state issues and the upcoming swearing-in and transfer of power ceremony.
According to a message shared on the social network X, the meeting between President Sall and President-elect Faye was marked by courtesy as they discussed in depth the major issues facing the state and the logistics surrounding the upcoming ceremony.
Ousmane Sonko, leader of the African Patriots of Senegal for Ethics and Fraternity (Pastef, dissolved party), also participated in the audience. The Pastef party, of which President-elect Faye is a member, has been dissolved.
President-elect Bassirou Diomaye Faye was declared the winner of the presidential election with 54.28% of the vote, according to provisional official results announced on Wednesday. The meeting between President Sall and President-elect Faye underscores the peaceful transition of power in Senegal and the commitment to a smooth handover of responsibilities.
