A popular jury, in Spain, will begin hearing and ultimately deciding the innocence or guilt of Bobo Keita, a 43-year-old Gambian accused of murdering his ex-brother-in-law, whom he allegedly stabbed to death on the stairs of number 29 of Don Pedro de Luna Street in Zaragoza on June 22, 2022.
Bobo is accused of throwing away a double-edged knife he used to execute the crime before entering the back through a terrace on Paseo Calanda. He also removed and discarded his blue African-style djellaba, which had become soaked in the victim’s blood. The accused is expected to testify first, followed by the victim’s family and friends, and finally by individuals who saw him on the street and in the pub after escaping to Almera with the weapon and blood-soaked clothes.
The accused is likely to testify first, then the victim’s family and friends, and finally anyone who saw him on the street and in the pub after fleeing to Almera with the weapon and blood-soaked clothes.
Bobo Keita was captured by operatives from the Aragon Police Headquarters’ Homicide Group before attempting to leave for The Gambia, his home country, with an identity document he had stolen earlier.
The prosecutors, Mara Fornoza and Eva Mara Martn, who represent the victim’s sister and brother, have asked the jury to find Bobo Keita guilty and the judge to sentence him to 20 to 27 years in prison.
Bobo Keita’s lawyer resigned from his defense a few weeks ago, prompting a new lawyer, Elena Carnicer, to be his new counsel.
The session is scheduled to go until Thursday. On Tuesday, homicide police officers will testify; on Wednesday, experts from the Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences of Aragon (Imlcfa) will submit their findings and reports; and on Monday, the jury will be asked to render a verdict.
