Executive members of the 14th Education Students Association-UTG (EDUSA) met with H.E. Mohammed B.S. Jallow, Vice President of The Gambia. The delegation provided an overview of EDUSA, outlined upcoming initiatives, and appealed for government support from the Gambia Government, emphasizing its commitment to fostering educational engagement and advancing educational goals.
The President of EDUSA, Musa Bah, expressed the council’s joy, stating, “The Vice President is someone who knows the education sector very well. This is why we are very pleased to be here.”
Mr. Ousman Ceesay, OVP’s Deputy Permanent Secretary (Admin & Finance), chaired the meeting and guided the proceedings.
Vice President Jallow encouraged council members to continue their excellent work and educational endeavors by sharing inspirational thoughts with them. He reaffirmed the government’s ongoing commitment to the education sector, pointing to the operation of the new UTG Faraba Banta campus as concrete proof of this pledge.
Notably, he emphasized that teachers’ capacity needs must be developed, saying that “good students cannot exist without good teachers.” For this reason, the government is trying to increase capacity at the MoBSE level.”
Vice President Jallow guaranteed the EDUSA group in a cooperative gesture, saying, “Our doors are open, and we will do what we can to support your agenda.”
An important milestone in the cooperative effort to improve education in The Gambia has been reached with this participation.
