Sevilla, which considers Gambian Scorpion youngster Musa Drammeh a potential first-team player, has turned down Sunderland’s offer for the teenager. The 21-year-old’s interest from Sunderland is a sign of what the club plans to do during the January transfer window. Sunderland’s prospects of promotion might be increased, and their goal-scoring issues could be resolved by adding Drammeh to their team.
According to Diario de Sevilla, the Black Cats are considering the 21-year-old ahead of the January transfer window.
With two assists and five goals this season, the Gambian international has had a significant impact on the club’s B-team.
Sevilla has the option to exercise a 12-month extension on Drammeh’s current deal, so they do not have to sell him this winter. The existing deal with Drammeh ends in the summer of 2024. Consequently, Sevilla may be able to keep Drammeh on for an additional year. This would allow him to further develop and contribute to the club’s success.
Birmingham City and Sunderland are interested in signing 21-year-old Gambian, who can challenge for first team spots. Sevilla has rejected the Wearside outfit’s original offer. Sunderland may need to strengthen their attack in January to boost their promotion chances.
Sunderland head coach Michael Beale is set to face Coventry City in his first game in charge. The Black Cats have the fewest goals in the top seven divisions and the third fewest in the top 12. The addition of Drammeh could ease their goal-scoring concerns, but the fee Sevilla might accept for Drammeh remains uncertain. Sunderland is currently seventh in the Championship table and nine points behind Leeds United. They will need to step up their goal-scoring if they want to secure a higher position.
Sunderland is expected to be a busy club in the January transfer window, with Drammeh being an exciting prospect. The Black Cats are seeking attacking reinforcement, but Sevilla’s stance makes it challenging to achieve their primary targets.
