The Gambia Government has announced that it has cleared several affected individuals from the Ministry of Lands, Regional Government, and Religious Affairs. Consequently, the government says they can resume work after a suspension and thorough review of development activities.
The government strictly restricts the continuation of development activities within the Layout to institutional purposes, according to a press release from the Office of the Government’s spokesperson.
Allottees submitted submissions and reviewed allocations, ensuring compliance with rules and efficiency. Violations could lead to a re-entry process by the Lands Ministry. Resumption of work is pending.
In the interim, the Ministry of Lands is finalizing on the review of the Bertil Harding Highway and Kotu Layout.
The Gambia Government is committed to ensuring equitable and just land allocation in the public interest, addressing the suspension of land allocation, according to Ebrihama G. Sankareh, the government’s spokesperson.
