The Ministry of Health’s Births and Deaths Registry Unit has issued a public notice regarding a temporary disruption in the Electronic Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (eCRVS) services. This interruption is due to a system upgrade and will be effective from Monday, February 26th, until March 11th, 2024.
The eCRVS services will be unavailable during this period, and the ministry regrets any inconvenience this may cause. They have expressed appreciation for the public’s understanding during this maintenance period.
The eCRVS system, which includes biometrics for civil registry and national health insurance scheme purposes, was launched in August 2022. The registration process aims to facilitate the issuance of digital birth certificates and enable subscription to the new national health scheme.
President Barrow led by example in August 2022 by personally registering into the country’s new electronic Civil Registry and Vital Statistics (CRVS) database, highlighting the importance of this system for all citizens.
