The Disruptive Lab has established itself as a driver of innovation for young entrepreneurs in the heart of the Gambia. This high-tech center, founded in 2019 by Innovate Gambia and supported by PointClick Technologies, provides a dynamic co-working space as well as cutting-edge equipment such as 3D printers, virtual reality headsets, and meeting rooms.
Its mission is to promote innovation, learning, and collaboration in order to use digital technology to transform The Gambia.
The Disruptive Lab provides a number of services, including a six-month accelerator program called DRILL, which supports 60 Gambian and Tanzanian businesses. It also encourages networking and collaboration through events such as “Who is Who in Tech in the Gambian Diaspora,” which connects global experience with local potential.
As a member of the AfriLabs network, this technology lab has the backing of industry titans such as Google for Startups, MailChimp, Amazon Web Services, and QuickBooks, solidifying its position as a catalyst for innovation in The Gambia.
The Disruptive Lab launched Disrupt TV, a new YouTube channel for African disruptors, innovators, and change-makers, in July of last year.
Disrupt TV has published 10 episodes of StartUp Diaries since its launch on May 3rd, 2022, with 4.3K views, 230+ subscribers, and 330+ hours watched.
Each episode features an in-depth interview with a Founder who shares their experience and strategies. StartUp Diaries is aimed at viewers in The Gambia and the global diaspora.
PointClick Technologies, a cloud services provider with offices in the United States, Africa, Europe, and Asia, has sponsored the series. The Disruptive Lab, The Gambia’s first innovation and technology hub, is fully funded by PointClick Technologies.
