Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL, The Gambia) – The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) and the Senegalese Armed Forces have conducted a joint border patrol exercise, reaffirming their commitment to regional security and cooperation under the framework of the Joint Military Commission.
The joint operation was held from July 3 to 4, 2025, coming shortly after a similar exercise involving mixed patrols between Senegalese Military Zone No. 3 and Gambian military units from June 28 to 30.
The coordinated patrol covered several border communities, where military personnel, police, and gendarmerie officers from both countries worked together to enhance operational collaboration and raise public awareness on security issues.

As part of the outreach efforts, medical teams consulted and provided free medication to 612 residents.
The primary objective of the exercise was to strengthen border security and deepen collaboration between the two forces.
Security officials also met with local leaders, including ward councillors, chiefs, and youth representatives, to listen to the concerns of border residents and foster stronger ties with the communities.
The July operations concluded with a VIP Day, during which military officials and dignitaries reviewed the outcomes of the exercise, celebrated key achievements, and identified areas requiring further improvement.
The event also served as a platform to reinforce ongoing bilateral security coordination.
This joint initiative reflects the enduring commitment of The Gambia and Senegal to promoting peace, stability, and safety in their shared border regions.
