Gambiaj.com – The Gambia’s Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy (MoCDE) has partnered with the India-based Kalp Foundation to develop a blockchain-powered digital public infrastructure (DPI) platform named Gambia One. The initiative aims to bridge the digital divide, empower communities, and create scalable solutions aligned with global regulatory and ethical standards.
The Kalp Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to building digital public infrastructure, will spearhead the development of this decentralized platform. Leveraging the capabilities of Kalp Blockchain, Gambia One is designed to enable secure data exchange, streamline government operations, digitize critical services, and promote capacity-building initiatives for Gambian leadership and youth.
Speaking on the occasion, Tapan Sangal, Founder and Director of the Kalp Foundation, emphasized the transformative potential of the partnership:
“We are deeply honored to collaborate with The Gambia in its journey toward becoming a future-ready nation powered by a robust blockchain-driven digital ecosystem. This groundbreaking initiative showcases Kalp Foundation’s commitment to delivering scalable, compliant, and transparent solutions that empower governments to modernize processes, improve citizen services, and drive equitable growth.”
The partnership will also focus on skilling Gambian youth in blockchain and related technologies to ensure sustainable growth and create a tech-savvy workforce. The government views this initiative as a key driver for inclusivity and innovation in its digital economy strategy.
Hon. Lamin Jabbi, Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, lauded the collaboration:
“The Gambia welcomes Kalp Foundation’s vision and expertise in fostering an inclusive digital ecosystem. Together, we will harness the power of blockchain-enabled DPI to deliver innovative, citizen-centric solutions that align with global standards of trust, transparency, and accountability. This initiative is a testament to our commitment to building a brighter, more inclusive future for our nation.”
Hassan M. Jallow, Permanent Secretary at MoCDE, described the partnership as a significant leap forward:

The Kalp Foundation envisions scaling this model globally, with similar partnerships aimed at transforming the digital landscape through inclusivity, compliance, and innovation. For The Gambia, the collaboration marks the beginning of a transformative journey, one where technology not only bridges divides but also fosters sustainable growth and empowers communities.
This initiative places The Gambia at the forefront of blockchain-driven governance, showcasing its commitment to becoming a future-ready nation with cutting-edge digital infrastructure.
