The Gambia Procures Two Green Ferries to Enhance Transport Services

The Minister of Transport, Ebrima Sillah, announced on Wednesday that the government, through the Gambia Ferry Service, has acquired two new green ferries to improve transportation services. Minister Sillah emphasized the government’s commitment to finding long-term solutions to ferry transportation challenges, leading to the procurement of these environmentally friendly vessels.

The new ferries are equipped with modern technology and are expected to enhance transportation efficiency across the country. Minister Sillah highlighted the importance of sustainability in the transportation sector, noting the environmental benefits of the new green ferries.

Acknowledging the current challenges facing the ferry service, Minister Sillah reassured the public that the government is working to address these issues. Efforts are underway to handle the current challenges hindering safe and rapid crossings between Banjul and Barra. Minister Sillah announced the procurement of three new engines and the impending arrival of three more, aiming to resolve the ferry crisis by next month.

The addition of these new ferries reflects the government’s commitment to investing in infrastructure to support economic growth and development.
