The Gambia Reaffirms Commitment to Inclusive Digital Transformation at UN High-Level Dialogue

Gambiaj.com – (New York, United States) – The Gambia’s Minister of Information, Media, and Broadcasting Services, Dr. Ismaila Ceesay, on Tuesday represented the country at the High-Level Ministerial Dialogue on Digital Cooperation: “Fostering Global Digital Cooperation for Resilience, Prosperity, and Peace,” held on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly.

The dialogue, convened by the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO), brought together ministers and senior policymakers from across the globe to examine how digital technologies can be harnessed to strengthen economic resilience, drive innovation, and promote sustainable peace.

In his statement, Dr. Ceesay highlighted the centrality of digital transformation to The Gambia’s national development agenda. He reaffirmed the country’s strong alignment with the UN Global Digital Compact and the DCO’s Four-Year Agenda for Digital Resilience and Prosperity.

The minister emphasized the need to create inclusive and secure digital ecosystems that empower all citizens, particularly vulnerable groups.

He also underscored the importance of South-South and Triangular Cooperation in bridging digital divides and promoting innovation across developing nations.

Dr. Ceesay further noted the value of tools such as the Digital Economy Navigator in ensuring that national policies remain data-driven and impactful. “The Gambia is determined to ensure that no one is left behind in the digital revolution,” he stated, reiterating the government’s commitment to equitable access to technology, enhanced digital literacy, and harnessing the digital economy to uplift communities.

The event underscored the growing momentum among nations to collaborate on building resilient and inclusive digital economies, with The Gambia positioning itself as an active partner in advancing global digital cooperation.
