According to The Standard Newspaper, Gambian civil servants will now receive higher transportation and housing allowances thanks to a cabinet decision.
The Standard was informed by sources close to the State House that the increase was the result of an urgent discussion on projected revenue and expenses for 2024 that took place in the middle of November 2023.
Our source states that the allowance structure is examined every five years, with the most recent evaluation being in 2018.
The following are the increments: allowance for transportation: D1,500 to D2,500 Allowance for housing: D1,700–D3,000. The Ministry of Public Service, Administrative Reforms, Policy Coordination, and Delivery submitted the proposal.
