Gambiaj.com – (WASHINGTON, DC) – The uneasy political alliance between billionaire Elon Musk and President Donald Trump has publicly unraveled, with Musk announcing the creation of a new political party over the Independence Day weekend.
Once a prominent Trump ally and a major donor to Republican causes, Musk now says he will spearhead the “America Party,” positioning it as an alternative to both Republicans and Democrats, whom he labeled as a “Uniparty.”
Throughout the holiday weekend, Musk repeatedly attacked both major political parties and revived conspiracy theories targeting the Trump administration.
Among Musk’s most provocative accusations was a resurfaced claim that Trump officials deliberately misled the public about disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.
Though Musk has not explicitly tied Trump to Epstein in his latest posts, he previously made such connections during a prior falling-out last month – posts that he later deleted after reportedly speaking with Trump and senior White House officials.
The public split comes just days after President Trump signed into law a sweeping domestic policy bill that Musk fiercely opposed. Musk argued the legislation would balloon the national debt and undo cost-cutting efforts initiated by his own Department of Government Efficiency.
In retaliation, Trump threatened investigations into Musk’s government contracts and subsidies, saying last week that Musk’s ventures “may become a monster that goes back and eats Elon.”
Musk’s social media posts over the weekend showed no signs of retreat. He mocked Trump’s social media platform, Truth Social, quipping, “What is Truth Social, never heard of it,” and shared memes dismissing Trump’s personal attacks, including the president’s branding of Musk as a “train wreck.”
Musk said his new political movement will not attempt to field candidates in every race but instead will concentrate on a select few competitive Senate and House contests.
“Given the razor-thin legislative margins, that would be enough to serve as the deciding vote on contentious laws,” Musk posted on X, formerly Twitter, describing his approach as “extremely concentrated force at a precise location on the battlefield.”
It remains unclear whether Musk has formally registered the “America Party” with the Federal Election Commission or other regulatory bodies. Musk acknowledged that several filings appearing to impersonate his party or associates had surfaced, saying he would report at least one to the FEC.
Musk’s spokesperson declined to comment on the party’s organizational plans.
Though the feud has escalated sharply, Musk continues to follow Trump and several senior administration officials on X — suggesting the final break may not yet be complete.
Meanwhile, the Justice Department on Monday released a memo reaffirming that Epstein’s death was ruled a suicide, denying persistent claims of a hidden “client list.” That memo, however, didn’t stop Musk from again raising questions about the case in his latest posts.
Musk’s announcement marks the most significant third-party threat in American politics since Ross Perot’s efforts in the 1990s, though it remains to be seen whether the “America Party” will amount to more than an online spectacle.
