(BANJUL, The Gambia) – Former British Prime Minister and Founder of the Tony Blair Institute (TBI), Tony Blair, met with President Adama Barrow at the State House on Thursday. The meeting, as reported by the communications unit of the State House, focused on accelerating the process of digitalization to boost The Gambia’s economy.
During their discussions, President Barrow and Mr. Blair covered a wide range of topics, including developing human capacity and enhancing the country’s agricultural output. The two leaders exchanged ideas on implementing innovative technologies to improve infrastructure and expand access to education and healthcare services. They also explored potential partnerships with international organizations to support sustainable agricultural practices and increase food security in The Gambia.
Expressing his enthusiasm about the country’s progress, Mr. Blair remarked, “I am really enthusiastic about the progress the country is making; you can feel that things are moving forward in the country.”
Tony Blair and top officials of the Blair Institute are regular visitors to the State House due to the ongoing collaboration between the Department of Strategic Policy and Delivery (DSPD) at the Office of the President and the TBI. This partnership aims to help organize and coordinate the government’s numerous policy initiatives to maximize results, ensuring effective delivery and performance.
