Gambiaj.com – (New York, United States) – Donald Trump could end Democrats’ presidential hopes by fracturing the Blue Wall again. He’s already won Pennsylvania, and he holds leads in both Michigan and Wisconsin. More than 130 counties across those three Blue Wall states are reporting complete or close-to-complete results, and in almost all of them Trump has gained on his margins from four years ago. The median county shifted 1.3 percentage points, according to a POLITICO analysis of preliminary results from the Associated Press.
That is a problem for Kamala Harris, as President Joe Biden won two of the Blue Wall states, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, by less than that margin in 2020. And while other counties, including heavily Democratic ones, are continuing to count votes, there are fewer and fewer left for Harris to make up Trump’s lead.
Harris has only improved on President Joe Biden’s margins in a handful of near-complete counties, POLITICO’s analysis found.
Trump has won Georgia, North Carolina and Pennsylvania, and leads in the remaining battleground states.
Take Pennsylvania: In Lackawanna County, home to Scranton, Harris is leading by just 3 percentage points after Biden won the county by 8 points four years ago. In Berks County, Trump is leading Harris by 13 points after beating Biden by 8 points in 2020.
Votes are still being counted, including in Democratic strongholds in Detroit and Milwaukee and Detroit. But Harris would need to put up massive margins in those urban centers to offset the ground she has lost elsewhere. That’s looking increasingly unlikely.
Trump won all three Blue Wall states in 2016 before Joe Biden won them back in 2020. The Harris campaign long acknowledged that her most likely path to the presidency went through these three Blue Wall states. Now, it’s looking grim.
Emboldened by the returns, former President Donald Trump declared victory early Wednesday morning in West Palm Beach.
“I want to thank the American people for the extraordinary honor of being elected your 47th president, and your 45th president,” Trump said to a room full of his most devout supporters.
The former president was joined on stage by Melania Trump, his family, allies and top advisers from his campaign.
