Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL) – Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan visited the Gambian capital Banjul to meet with President Adama Barrow ahead of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit. The summit, hosted by Gambia, aimed to address the ongoing attacks by Israel on Gaza and strategize on lasting solutions.
During his visit, Minister Fidan engaged in discussions with President Barrow, highlighting the importance of solidarity among OIC member states in supporting Palestine. The Turkish delegation also met with representatives of Turkish companies operating in Gambia, emphasizing the role of economic cooperation in strengthening bilateral relations.
The OIC’s 15th summit of heads of state and government convened in Banjul over the weekend, focusing on ending the violence in Gaza and seeking a permanent resolution to the conflict. The summit discussions centered on concrete steps to address the humanitarian crisis and bring about peace in the region.
Minister Fidan’s visit and the OIC summit underscored the collective efforts of member states to address critical issues affecting the Muslim world, reaffirming their commitment to peace, justice, and solidarity within the OIC framework.
