General Yusuf Aslan, the commander of the Turkish Gendarmerie Special Forces, led a delegation that arrived in Banjul on Wednesday to meet with the Gambia Police Force in a working visit.
Meetings between the General and Inspector General of Police Abdoulie Sanyang are part of his visit. They will also visit the Police Training School in Banjulunding and the Police Intervention Units Headquarters in Kanifing.
Following IGP Sanyang’s visit earlier this year, the Turkish General’s visit intends to provide specific training for officers of the Gambia Police Force, boosting the capacities of various units within the force.
During that tour, the Turkish Gendarmerie was asked to help the Gambia Police Force with training and other logistical support. This team is made up of both an assessment and a training team.
