Two Arrested for Alleged Theft of Sheep in Tawto Village

The police from the Old Yundum Station have on Monday, March 25, 2024, detained two individuals aged 25 to 30 in Tawto Village for alleged stealing. The men were nabbed red-handed with lambs that had been reported missing by a nearby farmer earlier in the day.

The arrest came after the police raided a compound and found 13 sheep. A further investigation found that two of the sheep had been reported stolen by their rightful owners.

The putative suspects stated that the sheep in their possession were purchased for business purposes, but they were unable to present sufficient evidence to that effect.

The police are conducting an investigation to establish whether the two individuals are part of a wider organized thievery ring in the area.

The community is now on high alert and working closely with law enforcement to avoid future thefts.

The Gambia Police Force (GPF) remains committed to saving lives and property, and the public is encouraged to assist with the continuing inquiry by providing any pertinent information that could aid in the identification of the stolen sheep.
