Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL, The Gambia) – Senegal’s ruling party, PASTEF’s win has not only been hailed within Senegal but is also receiving resounding praise from The Gambia’s major opposition party, the United Democratic Party (UDP).

In a statement on behalf of its Secretary General, party leader, and National Executive Committee, the UDP has extended warm congratulations to PASTEF for securing a massive mandate. “It is a resounding endorsement of the PASTEF platform and testament to the desire of the Senegalese people to chart a new path forward,” the statement read.

The UDP expressed admiration for the way PASTEF has galvanized young people, both in Senegal and throughout the region, including The Gambia.

This movement has inspired hope in young people not only in Senegal but across the region and the Gambia, much of whose young people express admiration for what they see in Senegal,” the UDP continued, highlighting the shared struggles between Senegalese and Gambian youth for democratic governance.

The UDP also commended PASTEF for its steadfast commitment to upholding the integrity of the Senegalese constitution, asserting that the party’s victory ensures the continued supremacy of the nation’s constitutional framework. The party’s leadership, the UDP noted, exemplifies a patriotic and democratic approach, one that resonates deeply with the aspirations of young Africans.

The persistence and determination of PASTEF against forces of state capture is an inspiration to Gambians in our own fight against tyranny and self-perpetuating rule,” the UDP stated. “We are confident that under PASTEF’s leadership, Senegal is on a path to greater progress and prosperity for its citizens.

In closing, the UDP wished PASTEF and the people of Senegal much success, underscoring the shared commitment to democratic values and regional cooperation.
