Gambiaj.com – (LAGOS) – The West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates in 2024 commences on Tuesday, April 30, as confirmed by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
WASSCE will be conducted in three additional West African nations, extending until Monday, June 24, with The Gambia, Sierra Leone, and Liberia included in the examination process.
Dr. Amos Dangut, the Head of the Nigeria Office, disclosed this information during a media briefing at the WAEC headquarters in Nigeria on Monday.
The examination will be held in Nigeria, The Gambia, Sierra Leone, and Liberia, all of which are WAEC members.
A total of 22,229 schools have submitted 1,814,344 candidates for the exam, with 902,328 males representing 49.73% of the total and 912,016 females representing 50.27%.
Compared to the previous year, there is a notable increase in the number of male and female candidates.
In total, there are 192,948 more candidates this year.
Each candidate will be assessed on a total of 197 papers covering 76 themes. Over 30,000 senior secondary school teachers in practice, nominated by various Ministries of Education, will oversee the exam.
