Gambiaj.com – (NEW YORK, United States) – The White House is downplaying concerns over a visible bruise on the back of former President Donald Trump’s right hand, attributing it to his habit of frequent handshaking.
The bruise was noticeable during Trump’s meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at the White House on Monday, sparking speculation. Addressing the matter, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt framed it as a testament to Trump’s tireless work ethic.
“President Trump is a man of the people,” Leavitt stated. “His commitment is unwavering, and he proves that every single day.” She later added, “President Trump has bruises on his hand because he’s constantly working and shaking hands all day every day.”
This is not the first time Trump has been seen with discoloration on his right hand. NBC News and other outlets have noted similar bruising in August and November of last year. Additionally, in December 2024, Time magazine quoted Trump attributing the marks to shaking hands with thousands of people.
Despite these reassurances, questions surrounding Trump’s health persist. In a December interview with NBC News’ Meet the Press, Trump vowed to release his full medical report but has yet to follow through on that promise.
At 78, Trump remains the oldest person to be sworn into the U.S. presidency, surpassing Joe Biden, who was the oldest to serve while in office. With the 2024 election cycle intensifying, scrutiny of Trump’s health is likely to continue, particularly as his visible bruising fuels further speculation.
