Musa Danso, the Ward Councilor for Wuli Foday Kunda, highlighted significant developmental progress in his Ward within a year of taking office. In an exclusive interview with our reporter, Councilor Danso, speaking from his native village of Foday Kunda in the Upper River Region, noted that his Ward has faced numerous challenges hindering development.
However, he mentioned that the long-standing water issue, a major challenge since independence, is being addressed. Plans are underway to provide a borehole for Sareh Kali village, with another borehole already provided for Sareh Keita, both sponsored by the Basse Area Council, with support from President Barrow’s project through the Department of Water Resources benefiting five villages in his ward.
The villages benefiting from the first phase of the project are Foday Kunda, Werringaleh Yareh, Bohom Kunda, Musa Kunda, and Kanapeh. Councilor Danso also mentioned that five other villages in his Ward have benefited from electricity, including Bani Bakary, Passamas Mandinka, Passamas Fulla Kunda, Tabanding, and Foday Kunda Beriff.
Councilor Danso expressed optimism for more development in the pipeline, mentioning that five other villages are set to benefit from the second phase of the water project.
He also highlighted a road project from Chanmoi to Sutukoba Junction, awarded to Giraf, which includes the establishment of two gardens as part of the President’s Smart Project in Mureh Kunda and Weringaleh Yareh. He called on President Barrow to extend his support to address the route from Maka Masereh to Foday Kunda Junction, emphasizing its importance for the community.
